Ford Script Jeep

One o the latest vehicles to leave our workshop is the Ford Script Jeep. Since it’s arrival in late 2013 it has had a full re-spray, new canvas and all the brakes overhauled. The team have also had to partially re-wire her to get everything working properly again. We also treated her to some new boots (tyres). Restoration was completed in Jan 2014 with parts being supplied by Dallas Autos.

Description

The Ford script jeep is the later design of the well-known Willys MB Jeep.

Willys was chosen for the first mass production contact on the Willy MA design, however when the War Department realized that hundreds of thousands of jeeps would be needed for World War II, Ford was given a contract to produce the Willys MB design. Ford-produced jeeps were designated ‘GPW’ and during the War Ford built 277,896 GPW jeeps. Ford production started in 1942 and contracts for both Ford and Willys were terminated in the summer of 1945 when the war ended. The very last Ford GPW jeep rolled out of production on 30th July 1945.
