So, this week the team here at Armourgeddon have finished the winter re-fits of our FV432 tanks getting them ship-shape and battle ready for the start of our most exciting season to date soon looking to get started.

If you’ve not heard of our unique take on Paintball, we took the idea of paintball, and added a fleet of tanks and some pimped up paintballs and came out with Armourgeddon Tank Paintball! The ‘curve ball’ of Tank Paintball is that you have to drive the tank through a periscope. Communication is key between your team- with a sense of humour too.

So, we thought this week we would share with you what we have been doing to our FV432s over the past couple of months to get than battle fit and raring to go.

First, the tanks are driven to the yard, one by one, all their fluids are checked and the moving parts of the engines checked for any damage and problems, with everything oiled and greased once our mechanics are happy with them.

Next, we turn our attention to the tracks. The tracks take a mighty battering during the season, dropping into and driving out of potholes and carrying the weight of the tank and crew. Sections often require a small tap (or a walloping sledge hammer!) back into place or a complete replacement.

The dampers are next on the list- a bit like the shock absorbers of a car pumped up to Schwarzenegger in the early 80s levels. Any damage is spotted and those dampers are replaced. After that, the road wheels are checked for any missing rubber and again, replaced if needed.

Next- and not the favourite job of the team, is the long and arduous task of re-spraying the whole tank with a fresh coat of paint.

Finally, all radios and communications systems are checked and the FV 432 heads back up the drive to Armourgeddon HQ.

Our museum, with over 40 tanks and military vehicles is open all year round, and as long as the weather allows us, paintball also continues year around so there is plenty to see even now. Pop in or give us a call, if you want more information… we could talk tanks all day!
